Open-SEC Version 1.5 Released

We are excited to announce the release of Open-SEC Version 1.5, the latest firmware for TPEE’s maximum power point trackers (MPPTs). The update introduces changes that improve the tracking speed of our maximum power point trackers.

What’s New in Open-SEC Version 1.5

Scope View in Reboost PC Tool

The standout feature of this update is the new Scope View, now available in the Reboost PC Tool. This powerful visualization tool captures data at the rate of the internal control loop and works similarly to an oscilloscope. Users can gain detailed insights into how the tracking algorithm processes data, including noise and transients.

With this new level of transparency, filters can be precisely tuned, resulting in a 10x increase in tracking speed. This feature is ideal for those who are pushing the performance of their system.

Faster Tracking and Higher Current Limits

The upgraded firmware enables faster tracking for all supported MPPTs. Additionally, the SEC-B175-7A model now supports a higher current limit, unlocking more performance in high-demand scenarios.

Improved CAN Bus Interface

We’ve made the CAN bus interface more robust, bringing all Reboost PC Tool features to this isolated communication protocol. This means that firmware updates, live data reading, and configuration changes can now be done safely and efficiently via the CAN bus.

With multiple MPPTs often used in parallel, this improvement also allows users to connect all devices through a single connection.
